Monkeypox: What is Morocco’s health system – Le Disc

Government spokesperson, Mustafa Petsas, confirmed, Thursday in Rabat, that the government is proactively monitoring monkeypox (monkeypox), and has taken the necessary measures to deal with its possible developments.

“The Ministry of Health worked proactively on this issue and took a set of necessary measures to monitor the development of this disease, in line with international health standards,” Pettas noted. The minister said that the laboratory results of the three suspected cases of monkeypox discovered in Morocco are negative, adding that the suspected cases placed under medical observation are in good health and are being taken care of in accordance with the health procedures in place.

The disease is mainly spread by animals, especially primates and rodents such as mice, by biting, scratching or consuming their meat.

However, anyone who has direct, unprotected physical contact with damaged skin or biological fluids for a probable or confirmed symptomatic condition, regardless of circumstances, including in a healthcare setting, sharing toilet utensils, or contact with textiles (clothing, bathroom linen or bedding) or dishes may have a risky contact. The same applies to anyone who has unprotected contact within 2 meters for 3 hours with a possible or confirmed accidental case (close or close friend, transportation environment, office colleagues, gym, etc.).

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection confirmed that it has set up a system for this purpose to respond quickly to the global alert associated with monkey wall. This system defines the cases of infection (suspected case, probable case, confirmed case) and the method of medical care, as well as the care of contacts.

A probable case of chickenpox appears with anyone who presents with a rash, vesicular or vesicle-pustular, with a temperature above 38°C, and in whom the usual causes, in particular, chickenpox, measles, herpes, rickettsialis or a possible allergic reaction, have been ruled out. .

He adds that the case of smallpox was confirmed by being a possible case in which monkeypox virus was confirmed by molecular technology in the laboratory.

Any suspected or probable case should be reported immediately to the regional / prefectural health authority responsible for the health structure (public or private) where the diagnosis was mentioned by the doctor. The Department of Health and Social Protection’s county/prefecture delegation will urgently coordinate with the Regional Public Health Service to verify the definition of the case and proceed with the epidemiological investigation once the case has been classified as a probable case.

If the individual considers himself a suspected case, the procedure to be followed is as follows: Self-isolate for 3 weeks after last contact with the probable or confirmed case, with temperature monitoring twice daily. The district/provincial rapid response team (RRT) should set up regular telephone follow-up to check for symptoms of disease. Finally, in the event of a fever or rash, the contact person should not go to a health facility, and his care will be regulated by the EIR, as we conclude.
