Vince McMahon under investigation for his relationship with former WWE employee – Curveball

This week, The Wall Street Journal threw a little bombshell into the world of sports-entertainment with a remote investigation, out of the WWE rings.

In fact, the financial publication revealed that Vince McMahon, the man behind the WWE, and John Laurentis, one of its high-ranking executives, are currently under investigation after a secret agreement with a former employee of the company in order to conceal intimate relations with the two men.

The end of Vince McMahon?

In a March 30 email correspondence, an anonymous source revealed to the WWE Board that a former employee of the company, a paralegal, had an intimate and sexual relationship with Vince McMahon during his time with WWE. In addition to sharing the same kind of intimacy with John Laurentites, Director of Employee Relations.

According to information obtained by The Wall Street Journal, the employee said his salary would have doubled from $100,000 to $200,000 per year during the relationship. Additionally, a $3 million confidentiality agreement was signed by the woman not to disclose the nature of her relationships with McMahon and Laurinaitis.

The story and installments are said to go back to 2019.

Letterhead was delivered out of court to the WWE Board of Directors on June 12 and an outside company is investigating whether McMahon used the company’s financial resources to pay for this or other deals.

In fact, since the release of The Wall Street Journal, old stories have resurfaced, including an affair with former WWE referee Rita Marie Chatterton who allegedly accused McMahon of forcing her to have sex with her at the time in a limousine in 1986.

At the time, the story didn’t make many waves since McMahon defended himself by stating that the relationship was consensual and that his only fault here was adultery with his wife Linda McMahon.

With Chatterton still alive, she may return to the public eye with her story, and perhaps with it, the spurring of more testimonies revealing the 76-year-old’s actions.

For now, the investigation is still very small, but it comes on the heels of Stephanie McMahon’s voluntary departure from her father’s organization a few weeks ago. At the helm of the board of directors for several years, the only daughter of the McMahon family had left her seat to be with her family earlier this spring, thus joining her husband Paul Levesque. He is also on leave from his WWE executive positions since suffering from serious heart problems.

At the moment, Vince McMahon and John Laurenitis do not have any criminal charges against them. The investigation is internal to WWE and is above all the source of the money used that is being questioned rather than the consensual nature of the relationships.

On the other hand, the anonymous source mentions a climate of fear and intimidation that, over the course of the investigation, could reveal other shortcomings in the McMahon administration.

In the business world, the chiefs of companies bigger than WWE have lost their jobs due to less business. At 76 years old, it is not farfetched to believe that this story will be the straw that broke the camel’s back for McMahon, who for decades has avoided scandals on several fronts. Let us consider, in particular, the distribution and use of anabolic steroids by wrestlers in the early 1990s.

However, even if WWE does not currently comment on the case despite its cooperation with the investigating firm, Laurinaitis’ future is more than uncertain with the organization. According to internal sources, he and McMahon will be present as usual at Friday’s Smackdown tapings. On the other hand, if he falls headfirst, the Lorenets will hit the ground before Vince McMahon.

Additionally, in the wake of this scandal, rumors of the organization’s impending sale will grow fast as it’s an open secret that a buyer is being sought for WWE with the inevitable creator retirement organization as we know it today.

This story isn’t over getting people talking.
